Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Loved the fresh sandwiches and the rich chocolate cake. The view of the church was an added bonus. Would return for the steak and wine!

The old charm of the building caught my eye with its winding staircase and classic architecture, holding a sense of nostalgia from days gone by. The meal in the dining area hit the spot, with homemade steak and chips offering a decent taste after a long journey.
Unfortunately, my stay hit a few snags. The noise from the church bells could drive anyone to distraction, ringing every quarter hour – not exactly conducive to a peaceful night after a long trip. The room, while unique, felt worn down, with furniture showing signs of age and discomfort. the bed creaked like it was protesting every movement. the lack of adequate ventilation made the room feel hotter than it should, and the bathroom could use some attention, as a few details seemed neglected. an experience more reminiscent of a place needing some TLC than a cozy getaway.

I really enjoyed my time here, especially the quick breakfast where the fried eggs were spot on, and the comfortable bed ensured a great night's sleep. There are nice areas to relax, like the cozy bar and a peaceful reading nook. The only downside was that some of the windows didn’t open properly, but it didn’t spoil my overall experience at all! 😊

Loved the friendly staff and the tasty steak! 🍽️ But the church bells ringing every 15 minutes were a bit of a nightmare. Wound up checking out a day early because of it.

Great staff, but room issues
Had a decent stay for one night. Rooms are basic but comfy enough. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. Loved the bar area for drinks, but had a bit of a hassle with the bedding issues and the meal quality wasn’t great. Still, the vibe of the place is nice.

The hotel has a charming atmosphere and great food, especially the evening meals, but the staff can be hit or miss. My room was quite hot and had a strong church bell noise, and the shower was weak. Still, the staff were friendly and accommodating overall.

Charming atmosphere but needs maintenance
The hotel offered a charming atmosphere with very friendly staff. The steak and chips we ordered in the dining area were homemade and delicious, providing a great end to a long day of travel. I was disturbed by loud church bells and found the room conditions to be below standard with some maintenance issues present.

The original winding staircase adds a nostalgic character, making it feel like stepping back in time. The hearty steak and chips served were fresh and homemade, providing a satisfying meal after the journey.
The building's charm comes with its quirks, like the uneven floors and numerous stairs that can be a challenge for some. Rooms can get quite hot during warmer weather due to limited window openings, which might be uncomfortable for those needing fresh air. the church bells ringing every quarter-hour throughout the night make for a less than peaceful sleep experience, particularly if you end up in the wrong room facing the spire. The hot water in the bathroom seemed slow to arrive, which could be bothersome when you’re eager to get cleaned up.

Stairs need better maintenance, cleanliness in common areas should be improved!!! The noise from the church bells disrupts sleep, and room conditions felt quite outdated compared to expectations!!!
